Passive Fire Protection Framework Success For Shield’s Fire and Security Division

Fire and Security Division To Supply Services to Cardiff & Vale University Health Board

Shield Fire & Security Services has successfully been appointed to the Cardiff & Vale University Health Board‘s framework for the inspection and repair of passive fire compartmentation.  The framework, which commenced on the 3rd of April 2024, is for three years with the option of two one-year extension options.  The framework covers the following:

  • 2 Major Hospitals – University Hospital of Wales (UHW) & University Hospital Landough (UHL)
  • 15 sites – North & West Cardiff Locality
  • 17 sites – South & East Cardiff Locality
  • 10 sites – Vale of Glamorgan Locality

Robert Soper, Shield Fire & Security Services Passive Fire Protection Manager, commented, “The structural stability of the Passive Fire Compartmentation is a vital element for the preservation of life and property. Shield Fire & Security’s Passive Fire Protection team has been contracted to inspect, repair and report on the condition of the existing Fire Compartmentation throughout the numerous properties which make up the Cardiff & Vale UHB building portfolio. Works will be carried out within occupied and unoccupied buildings, so risk mitigation to NHS staff and members of the general public is of paramount importance. Works will only be undertaken after a full consultation and planning process with the client and incumbent stakeholders.

Ross Walker, Shield Fire & Security Services Managing Director, commented, “I am delighted for Rob and the team to have achieved such success at a relatively early stage in their development. The win demonstrates the knowledge and drive that Rob has brought to the division, and I expect it will be the first of many great contract wins.

Dean Howe, Shield Services Group’s Business Development Director, commented, “Shield Asbestos Services are the incumbent asbestos removal & remediation contractor on the current framework for Cardiff & Vale University Health Board, so it is a real positive to see our Group services being selected as a part of a one-stop shop approach for construction services. The Passive team are based out of the Cardiff office so the client can rely on the same level of service from this new service offering.”
