So how does Shield 50 work? It’s simple: employees choose a shield-inspired word, pay £2, and you’re entered into a monthly prize draw held on the last day of the month! But the real reward goes beyond the prize itself. Every penny raised goes to a charity chosen by our winner, supporting causes that matter deeply to our Shield family and our wider community.

Recently, we celebrated another fantastic Shield 50 draw. Kayleigh Clements was our lucky winner, taking home a brilliant LEGO Land Rover, generously donated by our Southampton Branch Manager, Jason James. But Kayleigh’s win was about much more than a prize.

She chose to donate the Shield 50 proceeds to Cancer Research UK, specifically to support research into ovarian cancer, a disease that affects thousands of women and families every year. Her generosity is helping fund vital research, improve treatments, and bring hope to those facing one of life’s toughest challenges.

Kayleigh said “I chose this charity after having a routine Smear test that uncovered CIN 2 Precancerous cells. After 4 years of multiple treatments these routinely kept returning. The decision was then made that the only way to eliminate them completely was to have a hysterectomy. Fortunately for myself and my husband we had already had 3 children. A year after having surgery I went for another check-up where I was given the all clear.”
