Shield Scaffolding Services nominated for NASC Health & Safety award

Shield Scaffolding Services has been shortlisted for the Health and Safety Award by the National Access & Scaffolding Confederation (NASC).

The NASC’s criteria judged Shield on how we have driven Health and Safety processes and initiatives within the Scaffolding division to the benefit of our company and the scaffolding industry. Our considered and bespoke occupational health surveillance procedures have been implemented to ensure the fitness to work of all scaffolders, and a safety-driven approach to our tool procurement process was amongst the submissions considered by the NASC for this award.

To be considered for this award, Shield also had to demonstrate how our senior management team show safety leadership within the business. Whilst we recognise that safety culture develops slowly and that fundamental change takes time, Shield could establish that our senior management team have a long-standing commitment to safety excellence and have realistic goals for driving process improvement. The approach from senior management has been to make their devotion to health and safety visible and help foster a ‘top-down’ buy into safety culture. We want our scaffolders to feel confident that they can report any incident in the knowledge that we seek only to prevent reoccurrence and not to apportion blame.

Shield Scaffolding is incredibly proud to be shortlisted by the NASC for a Health and Safety Award as it is a recognition of our commitment to the welfare of our employees and a reflection of the long-term vision for the company. None of our achievements could have been possible without the hard work and conscientious attitude of all of our Scaffolders.
