In order to achieve this FRA are carried out and the risk assessor will state the category they recommend. That category is then the minimal level that needs to be achieved. Those alarm devices you want to purchase won’t comply with the FRA. If you feel that they are beneficial in the meantime then carry on. After all, it is better than nothing, but please bear in mind it won’t meet BS5839-1 as stated by the FRA.
Any building built before the year 2000 has the potential to contain asbestos. Non-Domestic properties are required to adhere to the “Duty to Manage” as set out in CAR 2012. For domestic properties, where the property is your own dweling, a survey would be advisable when planning refurbishment works
Yes. For non-domestic properties and commmon areas of some domestic buildings, it is a legal requirement under “Duty to Manage”. Duty to Manage requires that you identify any asbestos materials within your building, assess the risks of the materials present and create a management plan to monitor the material and carry out recommendations.
