During 2013 Shield undertook the removal of AIB ceiling tiles and vinyl floor tiles within the lift lobby areas on multiple levels of Torbay Hospital.

The lift provided a main navigation route to the working hospital, and therefore could not be out of operation. The works were completed one level at a time, enabling lift users to proceed to levels above and below.

The works were carried out over Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday, while the hospital was at its least active. Building occupants were provided with details of alternative routes to the restricted level, avoiding the lobby area.
