Operation Christmas Hamper Receives A Boost From Shield Services Group

Shield Backs Fund Raising Campaign That Helps Families In Need At Christmas

Shield Services Group has been backing Operation Christmas Hamper this festive season to help families in need at this special time of the year.

The campaign was first launched in 2020 during lockdown by Bristol Rovers fan Charlotte Churchill, who wanted to help families in need. Now in its third year, the once-small idea continues to expand across the local Bristol community.

The initiative is run via a Facebook group with over 1200 members, all of whom work together to make up and deliver hampers to families most in need. The hampers contain luxury items, such as premium food, confectionery, and other goods beyond the reach of recipients.

In 2022, Operation Christmas Hamper delivered 340 hampers, using items donated by Bristol Rovers fans at matchday collection points, with the hampers assembled at the club’s Memorial Stadium.

This year, Operation Christmas Hamper has expanded to become a city-wide collaborative project including; Bristol Rovers, Bristol City Robins Foundation, Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, the Gas Girls, and Her Game Too. With increased donations and funds raised, the goal is to deliver over 500 hampers to vulnerable families and individuals.
