New Waste Transfer Station benefits local community
Shield News & Asbestos Removal: Asbestos removal and surveying company, Shield Environmental Services Ltd, has opened a new waste transfer station, located near its headquarters in Warmley, Bristol. The station provides an asbestos disposal service for local residents and businesses, which will then be transported on safely to suitably licensed disposal sites.
Shield Environmental Services recognised the need to provide a local waste transfer facility, where safe disposal could occur. The lack of suitable facilities for disposal, close to the area, has lead to the serious issue of illegal fly tipping, which presents health and environmental dangers to the community.
Managing Director, Phillip House stated “Illegal fly tipping of hazardous asbestos waste has been an issue in Bristol and Bath recently” he continued “on average we deal with at least one case per week”.
The benefits this new station will provide include; reduced threat from hazardous waste to the local community, a potentially significant reduction on the impact to the environment, reduced travel times for local businesses and the general public wishing to dispose of hazardous waste, limiting the likelihood of fly tipping in the future.
