Mental Health Awareness Week 2022

Tackling loneliness together with the Mental Health Foundation

According to the Mental Health Foundation, one in four adults feel lonely some or all of the time. There’s no single cause and there’s no one solution. After all, we’re all different! But, the longer we feel lonely, the more we are at risk of mental health problems. Some people are also at a higher risk of feeling lonely than others.

For Mental Health Awareness Week this year, Shield Services Group will be taking a lead from the Mental Health Foundation by looking to raise awareness of the impact of loneliness on our mental health and the practical steps we can take to address it.

Joanne Robb, Mental Health First Aider at Shield, commented, “Loneliness in adults can often go unseen. Colleagues in the workplace, who appear outgoing and engaging, can often head home at the end of the day to solitary lives.  At Shield, we like to keep our doors open to all of our colleagues in order to provide support and offer a friendly ear, it’s one of the many reasons that we have been voted Business of The Year.  As the team at the Mental Health Foundation has stated, Together We Can Tackle Loneliness.  The Mental Health Foundation has lots of great assets which can assist both our colleagues and anyone who may be feeling the impact of loneliness”.
