Growth of our Electrical Services

As the Electrical division has grown we have expanded the range of skills and services that we are able to offer. Not only has the Electrical division developed its commercial capabilities and client base, but we are now offering a raft of new skills that are often combined on construction sites; Mechanical services. We welcome Kelvin Hole to the team as Senior Mechanical Contracts Manager, who is overseeing the Mechanical aspects of future projects.

While still offering a full suite of electrical services including bespoke LV panels and UPS systems, we are now able to offer combined M&E services to our clients. Shield’s mechanical capabilities include the design, supply, installation and maintenance of services including; heating, cooling, ventilation and water services. We have the knowledge and ability to undertake works on a number of different fuel types including natural and liquefied gas, oil and biomass.

Daniel, Director of the Mechanical & Electrical division has this to say about the change: “We understand the industry is changing with different procurement strategies and an increasing demand for BIM. Bringing M&E under ‘one roof’ combined with our collaborative attitude enables us to provide a superior service to our clients, offering support from start to finish with a single point of contact”.

Notably, among the team’s most recent projects, is the successful completion of multi services works at a public school in Bristol. It was a large, phased contract carried out during school holidays.

The team project managed the full rewiring of the building, as well as fire stopping and ceiling installation, hosting ten multi-skilled subcontractors, with varying trade specialisms. Works were completed to deadline and client satisfaction.

Following this, M&E successfully completed work with a tier 1 contractor in London on an accommodation project. The works comprised the installation and refurbishment of three buildings’ common rooms, receptions, bedrooms, wet rooms and kitchens including aspects for occupants with accessibility requirements.

Most recently the M&E team has just secured a substantial school project with a highly regarded regional contractor.
