Insulation Director Retires Leaving A Great Legacy
Martin Mason has retired having spent over 50 years in the Thermal Insulation industry. Martin joined Shield in August 2012 after moving to Cornwall from Birmingham, bringing with him 40 years of industry knowledge.
Martin began his career as an apprentice in 1972 and went on to run both major contracts and Fabrication shops, leading him to run his own company.
He has extensive knowledge of the industry across Thermal, Acoustic and Fire Protection, where he was involved with contracts management, procurement, estimating and much more.
Having joined Shield as an insulation engineer, Martin soon progressed to the estimating side and onto Branch Manager and ultimately as Insulation Director responsible for every stage from initial contact to completion of works and Technical Data submissions.
Martin commented, “I’d just like to say a big thank you for all your lovely messages and for all the support I have received over the past 10 years. It ranks as the best 10 years I have ever experienced in my working life, thanks ultimately to what I can only describe as the Shield family.
I have experienced good and bad times and had more highs than lows – Just like being married! Now I know what it is like to be part of such a massive family and one which I shall remain a part of for the rest of my life. Special thanks to the Cornwall branch for spoiling me on my leaving day, it’s been a very emotional time for me and one which I shall treasure forever.”
Luke House, Chairman of Shield Services Group, commented, “It is a bittersweet message, to announce that Martin Mason, Shield Insulation Director, has retired. From a selfish perspective, we are gutted to be losing Martin from the business, however, after 50 years in the industry, we are overjoyed that he now gets to see the fruits of his labour and retire in France with his Mavis. Martin will now take up the mantle of honorary Shield Ambassador, meaning he’ll still be invited to all the Shield socials and isn’t allowed to become a stranger. We wish you all the very best in your future Martin, you have left a legacy to be proud of.”
